Using the NavWell Morris Water Maze computer program with the Meta-Quest Series of virtual reality headset and joystick, participants will be required to find the platform in the virtual water maze in ten trials for two consecutive days, and one test trial on the third consecutive day. Participants will be given 60 seconds to find the target, after which, they will be given 10 seconds to rest and look around the environment at the various cues. At the start of each trial, they will begin in one of four random locations, (north, south, west or east position). On day one, each participant will receive 2 trials of visible platform training, followed by eight hidden platform training. On day two, each participant will receive 10 hidden platform trials. On day three, each participant will receive one no-platform probe trial. This trial will consist of no platform and the starting point will be from a novel location. Upon completion of the probe trial, female participants will be asked when their last menstrual cycle was, the average cycle length and whether they are on hormonal birth control, in order to assess hormone levels. This is intended as a pilot study to assess how estrogen levels effect spatial memory reconsolidation.The body content of your post goes here.
